We consider this an optional material.  The matrix is comprised mainly of metal fibers and particles but is complimented with Aramid fibers.  The abrasive characteristic of the metal is negated by soft carbon particles, which also improve heat dispersion.  This material can be used on its own or combined with the other material to improve heat dissipation and wear.
